Fotona 4D®

Working from the inside out.

A non-invasive laser approach delivered in four stages — some from inside the mouth, some on the skin surface — supporting gradual change without incisions or injectables.

What makes it different

Two directions, not one.

From inside the mouth

Some passes are delivered intraorally, through the tissue inside the cheeks and lips — approaching the mid- and lower face from behind rather than only from the outside.

From the skin surface

Other passes are delivered externally to the skin. Working in both directions is what distinguishes this approach from a surface-only laser treatment.

The four stages

A sequence, performed in one visit.

Described here in plain terms. Technical settings are clinical decisions and are not published on this page.

  1. 01

    Intraoral warming

Controlled warming delivered from inside the mouth, addressing the mid- and lower face from within.

  2. 02

    Deeper surface pass

Energy directed through the skin with the goal of supporting the tissue’s own remodeling processes.

  3. 03

    Tone and evenness

A pass focused on overall skin tone and evenness across the treated area.

  4. 04

    Surface refinement

A final light pass focused on the skin surface and texture.

Who it may suit

What people usually come in asking about.

  • Gradual softening around the mouth and mid-face
  • Skin texture and overall facial tone
  • Mild laxity through the mid- and lower face
  • A preference for avoiding needles and surgery
  • Comfort with change that develops over time rather than immediately

Who it is not for

Where this is the wrong answer.

  • Anyone looking for a surgical-level change
  • Anyone expecting added volume — this is not an injectable
  • Anyone wanting a permanent or guaranteed result
  • Certain medications, skin conditions and medical histories, assessed individually
  • Anyone who would rather not commit to a series of visits

What natural change means

Looking like yourself, still.

Gradual, not sudden

Change develops over weeks to months as tissue responds. Nobody should be able to point at a date and say something happened.

Supportive, not surgical

This is not a facelift and we do not describe it as one. It supports the face you have rather than replacing a surgical option.

Individual, not uniform

Responses vary between patients. Some notice meaningful change, some notice modest change, and we are honest about that in advance.

Maintained, not permanent

Aging continues. We do not describe results as permanent, and any maintenance is discussed individually.

What a visit involves

Nothing surprising should happen.

In-office and non-invasive

No incisions and no injectables. Treatment is performed in our Alpine office.

A warm sensation

Most people describe controlled warmth during treatment. Tell us at any point if anything feels uncomfortable.

Comfort is managed

How comfort is handled for you is discussed in advance, based on your evaluation.

Afterwards

Any aftercare guidance, sun-care considerations and follow-up are given to you directly, because they depend on your skin and your plan.

Your plan

Recommendations are individualized.

How many sessions, how they are spaced, what recovery looks like for you and whether any maintenance is appropriate are clinical decisions made after evaluation. We deliberately do not publish those specifics, because the honest answer depends on the patient.

The consultation

We start with your goals, not a treatment.

What you want to change

Your goals, in your words, before anyone describes a treatment.

Skin and health history

Medications, skin conditions and history that affect whether this is appropriate.

Whether this is the right tool

Sometimes another treatment is a better fit, and sometimes the honest answer is nothing at all.

Expectations, plainly

What is realistic for you specifically, including what this will not do.

On photographs

We don’t publish representative results.

Aesthetic marketing is full of imagery that implies an outcome someone else achieved, under someone else’s lighting. We would rather set expectations with you in person, honestly, about what is realistic for your face.

Why a dental practice

We already work inside the mouth.

A treatment approached partly from inside the cheeks and lips sits naturally in a practice that thinks about the mouth, the jaw and the structure of the face every day. That is the context we bring to it.

Related treatments

Sometimes something narrower fits better.

Questions

Questions about Fotona 4D®.

What is Fotona 4D®?
It is a non-invasive laser approach delivered in four sequential stages, some from inside the mouth and some on the skin surface, with the goal of supporting gradual, natural-looking change.
Is it a facelift?
No. We do not describe it as a facelift or as a substitute for surgery. It is a supportive, non-invasive treatment.
Are needles or injectables involved?
No. Nothing is injected and nothing is cut. It also does not add volume the way an injectable does.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe controlled warmth. Comfort is discussed with you in advance, and you can ask us to pause at any time.
Why is part of it done inside the mouth?
Approaching the mid- and lower face from inside the cheeks and lips addresses the area from behind rather than only from the surface. That combination is what the 4D sequence describes.
How many sessions will I need?
That is individualized. We do not publish a session count or interval here, because the appropriate plan depends on your evaluation and your response, and it is determined clinically.
How soon will I see a difference?
Change is gradual and develops over time as tissue responds. Responses vary between patients, and some people notice more than others.
How long do results last?
We do not describe results as permanent. Aging continues, and any maintenance approach is discussed individually.
Is there downtime?
Any recovery or aftercare guidance is individualized and given to you directly, because it depends on your skin and your plan.
Is it safe for all skin types?
Suitability is assessed individually. Certain skin conditions, medications and medical histories matter, which is why evaluation comes first.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
For selected patients, yes. Sequencing is a clinical judgement rather than a standard package.
Do you show before-and-after photos?
We do not publish simulated or representative imagery. Anything we show you would be real, and expectations are discussed honestly in person instead.
How do I know if it is right for me?
A consultation in Alpine is the honest way to answer that. If a different treatment — or none — is a better fit, we will say so.
